In this image, acquired by NASA's Terra satellite on Feb. 18 and released on Feb. 28, a thin layer of marine stratocumulus clouds forms a linear wave cloud off the coast of western Africa. This is known as an undular bore. The air to the east of the bore is almost completely cloud-free because dry air has eroded clouds in that area.
